Why this foundation exists

Nathaniel came from Nigeria to the UK as a brave, smiling boy. He had come to be fitted with a prosthetic eye after losing an eye to a tumour, and it was here that doctors discovered he had advanced acute myeloid leukaemia. A whole community rallied to fund his treatment, and he went on to have a stem cell transplant. Through every step, he carried a courage that earned him the name “the smiling warrior.”

We lost him in 2022. This foundation carries forward his family's wish: to take the love shown to Nathaniel and pass it on to other children facing AML and the families beside them, so his light keeps shining.

How we help

Helping children with AML, and the families who love them

Everything we do is for children facing acute myeloid leukaemia, the fight Nathaniel knew so well, and for the families walking beside them.

Supporting children & families

Practical and emotional help through a child's AML treatment: the long hospital stays, the travel, and the costs that pile up at the hardest time.

Funding care & transplants

Helping toward the cost of treatment and stem cell transplants, like the one Nathaniel needed, so no child misses out for want of funds.

More donors, more matches

Encouraging blood and stem cell donor sign-ups, especially in Black and minority-ethnic communities, where a match for a child can be hardest to find.
